Why Selena Gomez and Francia Raisa Waited to Speak Out About Kidney Transplant (Exclusive) | Entertainment Tonight

[ad_1]
Selena Gomez and Francia Raisa are ready to tell their story.

The two sat down for the first time with Today’s Savannah Guthrie for an emotional interview set to air next week, months after Gomez received a kidney transplant from Raisa. As for why the pair, who revealed their surgery in September, waited to speak out about the procedure, a source tells ET that they wanted to make sure everything was on “their own terms.”

“It was really hard for [Raisa] to keep this a secret. Paparazzi follow Selena everywhere and their friend group is really close, but Francia didn’t tell anyone she was going to do this. It was a private thing between her and Selena,” the source says, adding that they “always planned to speak out about it, but wanted to wait until they had healed and they were in a place where they could share their story on their terms.”

In a promo for their Today show interview, Gomez is seen tearing up while talking about Raisa’s kidney donation.

Taylor Swift – Ready For It – New Taylor Swift video – MusicWeekly.com

aylor Alison Swift (born December 13, 1989) is an American singer-songwriter. One of the leading contemporary recording artists, she is known for narrative songs about her personal life, which have received widespread media coverage.

Born and raised in Pennsylvania, Swift moved to Nashville, Tennessee at the age of 14 to pursue a career in country music. She signed with the label Big Machine Records and became the youngest artist ever signed by the Sony/ATV Music publishing house. Her self-titled debut album in 2006 peaked at number five on the Billboard 200 and spent the most weeks on the chart in the 2000s. The album’s third single, “Our Song”, made her the youngest person to single-handedly write and perform a number-one song on the Hot Country Songs chart. Swift’s second album, Fearless, was released in 2008. Buoyed by the success of pop crossover singles “Love Story” and “You Belong with Me”, Fearless became the best-selling album of 2009 in the United States. The album won fou

Latin Music Revenue Up 44% – Variety

For all the streaming glory benefiting Latin music with global hits such as “Despacito,” it’s the lackluster payouts from on-demand services such as YouTube that should serve as a call to action, according to Cary Sherman, RIAA’s chairman and CEO.

Sherman’s appeal comes in the latest RIAA mid-year report, which shows that U.S. Latin Music revenues in the first half of 2017 grew by 44% ($115 million), from the previous year.

But even the power of streaming accounting for the majority of Latin music’s revenue rise at 82% doesn’t satisfy the monetary disbursements. Artists and labels, according to the RIAA report, cleared $20 million from free on-demand services such as YouTube. Latin music revenues made up 2.9% of the total U.S. recorded music market totaling $4 billion in the first half of 2017.

Taylor Swift Fights Her Nearly-Naked Robot Clone in Futuristic Music Video

Taylor Swift is going full cyberpunk in her new music video for “…Ready For it?”

The video, which seems to be inspired by the live-action adaptation of Ghost in the Shell and several other classic sci-fi franchises, is a robot-filled futuristic epic that sees two cyborg-Swifts facing off in a battle to the death.

It opens on one Swift (Swift-Alpha) walking down a grungy, futuristic city street rocking a black floor-length cloak as she approaches a group of menacing, red-eyes robot soldiers, who appear to be under her command.

As Swift-Alpha walks through what looks to be an abandoned shopping mall that serves as her headquarters, she approaches another Swift (Swift-Prime), seemingly imprisoned behind glass.

Gaming addiction probably is not a real condition, study suggests – Science News – Buy Movies

By Inga Vesper

There may be no such thing as internet gaming addiction. People play excessively not because they are hooked on gaming itself, but because they feel unhappy about other areas of their life, according to a study that followed thousands of online gamers over six months.

Internet gaming disorder is referenced in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders as a “condition of further study”, meaning the American Psychiatric Association thinks it warrants further research as a potential psychiatric condition.

The manual suggests that people suspected of suffering from gaming disorder must fulfil five or more criteria from a list of nine that include: lying about time spent gaming; jeopardising jobs, careers or education because of participation in gaming; and using gaming to relieve anxiety. They must also feel distress over their gaming habits for a – yet to be defined – period of time.

To investigate the potential prevalence of the disorder based on

Pop Artist Shelita Burke Uses Data Science, Blockchain To Her Advantage –

While some artists view their careers with a sort of “If you build it, they will come” mentality, pop singer-songwriter Shelita Burke definitely doesn’t. As a data scientist and cryptologist, she has a very deliberate, almost scientific approach to reaching fans. And she likens releasing and promoting her music to running a small business.

When she was younger, Burke said she saw the opportunity that the Internet could eventually provide to independent artists. “At an early age I knew, I need to learn how this world works and how to build things,” she says. She started programming when she was eight, and after graduating from the Northwest College of Art & Design, she went on to become a senior data engineer at Microsoft while playing shows at night. She left a couple years ago to pursue music full time.

Now, despite not having the support of a major label, that self sufficiency has managed to help Seattle-born, LA-based artist appear on the Pandora Predictions Chart, which measu

Average hydro bill to hit $181/month in 10 years: report – CanadaWeekly.ca

Ontario’s long-term energy plan projects that electricity ratepayers will see their hydro bills rise to an average of $181 a month in 10 years.

That’s lower than the $200 a month the last long-term energy plan expected bills to increase to by 2027, but significantly up from the current average of $127 a month.

The Liberal government says it plans to avoid sharp increases during that time through initiatives including only securing new power when it’s needed and allowing more people to produce their own green energy to power their homes.
